Beat the Heat Keeping Your Parked Car Cool
As long as your car air conditioning is working right, you have no problems maintaining a cool car when it’s turned on. But what many people find is that when they get out of their car and come back later, it can be scorching! While it may be hot and uncomfortable to get into, it can also be hot enough to hurt your hands and legs as your skin touches the hot surfaces. Luckily, there are things you can do to help keep your parked car cooler!
Keeping your parked car cooler isn’t tricky, but it will require you to be proactive. Here are a few things you can do to help keep your parked car cooler:
Beat the Heat Keeping Your Parked Car Cool
- Seek shade. The more shade you can provide your car with the better off it will be. Look for trees and other areas that offer shaded parking spots. Also, opt for using a windshield shade to help keep the dashboard cooler.
- Consider windows. Start by having your windows tinted. This will help keep the car cooler inside when it’s parked. Also, crack your windows slightly when you are leaving the car so that the air can still move around. Of course, you won’t want to do this if it looks like it is going to rain though.
- Cover up. Touching a hot steering wheel or sitting on a leather seat can be uncomfortable. Carry a hand towel to cover up the steering wheel with when you get out of the car, and use a blanket or bigger towel to cover the seat. That will help keep both of these areas cooler when you get back in the car.
Once you get back in the car, it is going to be hot. Put the windows down for one minute, turn the air conditioning on. And soon you will be cooling off and feeling great. To keep your car’s air conditioner running great be sure to have it inspected regularly.
